Residence visa to reunite a family member with a Spaniard
or a Citizen of the European Union resident of Spain
As of the 16 of May 2005, citizens of the following countries do NOT require a
visa to establish residence of family regrouping with a member of the
European Union in Spain:
ANDORRA, ARGENTINA,
AUSTRALIA, BRAZIL, BRUNEI, BULGARIA, CANADA, THE CZECH REPUBLIC,
REPUBLIC OF SLOVAKIA, SOUTH KOREA, COSTA RICA, CHILE, CYPRUS, EL SALVADOR,
ESTONIA, GUATEMALA, HONDURAS, HUNGARY, ICELAND, ISRAEL, JAPAN, LATVIA,
LIECHTENSTEIN, LITHUANIA, MALAYSIA, MALTA, MEXICO, MONACO, NICARAGUA, NORWAY,
NEW ZEALAND, PANAMA, PARAGUAY, POLAND, REPUBLIC OF CROATIA, REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA,
ROMANIA, SAN MARINO, SEYCHELLES, SINGAPORE, SWITZERLAND, UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA, URUGUAY, VENEZUELA, HONG KONG(SAR), MACAO(EAR) and citizens of THE
EUROPEAN UNION.
Citizens of countries not listed above must schedule an appointment to
apply for a visa.
NO APPOINTMENT IS NEEDED WHEN REQUESTING THIS TYPE OF VISA
The Consulate General in Miami has jurisdiction over the following States: Florida,
Georgia and South Carolina. If your permanent residence is in one of these States you must
apply at this Consulate. If your permanent residence is in another State contact the

This visa can be applied for by the spouse, children under 21 years of age, and parents
who are economically dependent of either a Spanish citizen or a citizen of the European
Union permanently residing in Spain.
To apply for this visa, the following requirements must be submitted in person:
ORIGINAL AND ONE PHOTOCOPY OF EACH DOCUMENT:
- Passport
of each of the applicants, valid for a minimum of 6 months (with 1
photocopy of the information, photo page and page of last renovation).-
Two Schengen visa application forms, type-written and signed.

Driver License or State I.D.
- Passport of Spanish citizen
or foreigner (E.U. member) permanently residing in
Spain.
- Residency card
if the applicant is not a US citizen (or inmigrant visa
in the US).
- 2 recent pictures
, passport size, glued to the application forms.
- Original marriage certificate
. (If it is not from Spain, it should be legalized
with the Apostille Certification*). In the case of the spouse of a Spanish citizen, the original Spanish
family book (libro de familia y certificado de matrimonio del Registro Civil).
- For the children, original birth certificate.(If it is not from Spain, it should
be legalized by the Apostille*). In the case of children of a Spanish citizen, the
original Spanish family book (libro de familia y cdo. del Registro Civil).
- Proof of residense in Spain with the "certificado de empadronamiento"
, or
"certificado de baja consular".
- If the applicant is a spouse, child under 18 years of age, or parent of a foreigner
(E.U. member) permanently residing in Spain, you must submit a notarized photocopy of the
residence card, or the official certificate of residence in Spain (certificado de
empadronamiento).
