Residence visa for investors or self-employed
NO APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT PRIOR APPOINTMENT!!!
The Consulate General in Miami has jurisdiction over the following States: Florida,
Georgia and South Carolina. If your permanent residence is in one of these States you must
apply at this Consulate. If your permanent residence is in another State contact the
Consulate that has jurisdiction over your State.
This visa allows a foreigner to reside in Spain as self-employed and
work in a
company in which the applicant has invested the required capital.
To apply for this visa two Schengen application forms and the following requirements must be
submitted in person:
ORIGINAL AND TWO PHOTOCOPIES OF EACH DOCUMENT:
- Two Schengen application forms type-written and signed.
- Passport
with more than one year validity.

Driver license or State I.D.
- 2 recent
passport size photos glued to application forms.
- Original certificate of good conduct
(police clearance) issued by the police department of the city or
cities where the applicant has spent 6 months or more in the last 5 years
notarized, translated, and legalized with
the Apostille Certification.
- Original medical certificate of good health
which must also state an absence of
contagious disease, drug addiction and mental illness. The Doctor must verify that there is no evidence of any health
condition which would prevent the applicant from engaging in the proposed activity in
Spain. This medical certificate must be typed and signed by a Medical Doctor
and translated into Spanish.
- The following documents issued in Spanish:
- Studies homologated by Ministry of Education when required by your
profession/occupation.
- Proof of income for the investment (bank statements).
- Project with type of investment, employment, rentability...
- List of licenses of permits required for the installation or opening of
the business in Spain.
- Original and five photocopies of the Residence and Work Authorization Application
(Solicitud
de Permiso de residencia y de Trabajo por cuenta propia) issued by the Ministry of Labor
and Social Affairs in Spain.
- Residency card
if the applicant is not a US citizen.
- All documents presented cannot exceed 60 days from the day they were issued.
The resolution of the application takes approximately 4 months. . Be advised that
special conditions for certain cases may apply.
*APOSTILLE CERTIFICATION ISSUED BY THE CORRESPONDIN SECRETARY OF STATE.

COST OF VISA: US CITIZENS $100.00 PROCESSING FEE. FOR OTHER NATIONALITIES THE VISA FEE
IS $93.60 (MONEY ORDER, AT MOMENT OF
APPLICATION).
FOR FAMILY MEMBERS: SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO APPLY FOR
A NON-LUCRATIVE RESIDENCE VISA (ORIGINALS
AND TWO PHOTOCOPIES):
- Passport with validity superior of one year.
- Residence card, if not a US citizen, and Driver License or State
ID.
- Two Schegen visa application forms type-written and signed.
- Two pictures glued to the forms.
- Proof of sufficient financial support (bank accounts in Spain or
USA, investmets and any other source of income).
- Proof of acomodation (to show an address in Spain).
- Proof of health insurance that will cover the family in Spain.
- Certificate of good conduct (Police Clearance Letter) for applicants
older than 18, translated into Spanish, notarized and legalized with the
Apostille Certification issued by the corresponding Department of State.
- Medical certificate of good mental and physical health, duly stamped and
signed by medical doctor, translated into Spanish.
- Marrige certificate legalized with the Apostille certification at
the corresponding Department of State.
- Birth certificate legalized with the Apostille certification at the
corresponding Department of State.
- VISA FEE: US CITIZENS $100.00 FOR OTHER
NATIONALITIES : $93.60 (MONEY ORDER).
